Popular radio personality Kamene Goro has opened up about a harrowing health crisis that brought her to the brink of death, revealing that she was diagnosed with sepsis and peritonitis, spending weeks in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and High Dependency Unit (HDU).

In an emotional address to her fans and followers, the media star detailed the medical emergency that began with an undisclosed illness in November 2025, escalating dramatically in January 2026. Doctors told her the window between life and death was a mere 12 hours.

Goro disclosed that surgeons removed five litres of pus from her abdomen as a result of the infections. The severity of the illness led to her kidneys shutting down, requiring dialysis. As her body fought the infection, complications mounted; she contracted pneumonia, and one of her lungs collapsed. “I almost died, guys,” Goro shared. “I was left with like, 12 hours standing. The window between life and death for me was 12 hours and four amazing doctors.”

Despite the gravity of her health scare, Goro chose to speak out to connect with others facing their own recovery journeys, whether physical, emotional, or mental. She reflected on the toll it takes on the body and the mind and admitted to struggling with the emotional weight of her transformation. “Nothing could prepare me for what was going to happen,” she said. “My body was ravaged. I have a long scar that runs from below my breast to my abdomen. But we survived.”

She also spoke about the loneliness of recovery, revealing that she spent her recent birthday crying, grappling with the loss of the year she had planned. “Always know what has happened to you has changed you, for a fact, but it does not define you,” she stated. “Grieve the old you, and let’s now move into the new you.
