KRA LAUNCHES BODY-WORN CAMERAS FOR CUSTOMS OFFICERS AT BORDER POINTS
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has rolled out body-worn cameras for Customs and Border Control officers in a major move to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in passenger clearance at Kenya’s main entry points.
The devices were officially commissioned at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), marking a new chapter in the Authority’s efforts to digitise and modernise border operations.
Speaking during the launch, Commissioner General KRA Humphrey Wattanga highlighted the Authority’s continued investment in technology that strengthens accountability while supporting secure and efficient border management.
“Proud to mark the launch of Customs body-worn cameras at JKIA today,” Wattanga said. “This initiative reinforces our commitment to transparency, professionalism, and secure borders as we continue to modernize service delivery for the public.”
The adoption of body-worn cameras is expected to provide real-time recording of interactions between customs officers and passengers, reducing incidents of misconduct, bribery, and harassment while protecting officers from false allegations.
