A timeless African anthem has officially reached a new generation of listeners in a major way. The Premier Gaou Remix by Ivorian legends Magic System and Haitian DJ/producer Francis Mercier has been certified Platinum in France, celebrating over 30 million streams or equivalent sales in the territory.
The track’s journey is a remarkable story of generational musical evolution. Originally released in 1999, the iconic Premier Gaou by Magic System featuring the group’s distinctive Zouglou sound and the unforgettable refrain Premier Gaou, Premier Gaou, n’importe quoi became a defining anthem across the African continent and its diaspora.
