MISS KENYA 1991 NKIROTE KARIMI M’MBIJJEWE PASSES AWAY

The family of Nkirote Karimi M’Mbijjewe, the former Miss Kenyan 1991, has announced her passing. 

The news has sent ripples of sorrow through the pageantry community and beyond, as friends and family mourn the loss of a woman remembered for her grace and gentle spirit.

Nkirote captured the nation’s heart when she was crowned Miss Kenya in 1991, throughout her life, she remained a figure of elegance and warmth, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The late Nkirote was the daughter of the late Hon. Kabeere M’Mbijjewe and the late Mrs. Julia M’Mbijjewe. She was the mother of Kinya Marangu, a devoted sister to Derick, Kinyua, andGitonga. She was also a much-loved aunt to Kendi, Kirimi, Munene, andMwai M’Mbijjewe.

In a statement released to the public, the family shared, “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Nkirote Karimi M’Mbijjewe. Nkirote’s warmth, quiet strength, and gentle spirit will forever remain in the hearts and memories of all who were blessed to know her. May her precious soul rest in eternal peace.”

Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, March 19th, 2026 at Lavington United Church, Nairobi.
