RED CARD STARRING HALLE BERRY AND DJIMON HOUNSOU TO FILM IN MASAI MARA IN 2026
High-stakes action thriller Red Card, starring Academy Award winner Halle Berry and Djimon Hounsou, is set to begin this year in Kenya’s iconic Masai Mara National Reserve, the Kenya Film Commission has announced.
The announcement follows a courtesy call between Ms. Lisa Miranda, Executive Producer of Red Card, and the Commission. “Ms. Lisa Miranda, Executive Producer of Red Card film paid a courtesy call to the Commission. Red Card which stars Halle Berry and Djimon Hounsou, is a relentless, action-packed thriller. A story of heroism, resilience, and the unbreakable bond between father and son. The film is set to be filmed this year in Masai Mara National Reserve, Narok County.” The commission announced.
The narrative takes audiences on a gripping journey from the rolling grasslands of the Masai Mara to the bustling port city of Casablanca, Morocco. Joel Souza, known for his work on The Crowded Room, will direct the film from a screenplay written by a powerhouse trio: George Gallo (Bad Boys, Midnight Run), and Oscar-winning screenwriters Nick Vallelonga (Green Book) and George Gallo. The original story, inspired by real events out of Africa, comes from Ava Roosevelt, Robert Menzies, and Michael J. Hershman.
The film boasts an exceptional cast. Hounsou, a two-time Academy Award nominee (Blood Diamond, In America) and Golden Globe nominee (Amistad), will star as Max Elmi, a veteran ranger battling poachers in Kenya. Berry, who made history as the first African-American woman to win the Oscar for Best Actress (Monster’s Ball) and is also an Emmy and Golden Globe winner (Introducing Dorothy Dandridge), will play FBI supervisor Amanda Bruckner.
