KENYANS RALLY BEHIND MARAGA, RAISE OVER SH8 MILLION FOR 2027 PRESIDENTIAL BID
Former Chief Justice David Maraga has announced a grassroots support for his 2027 presidential bid, with Kenyans contributing more than Ksh8 million through his Paybill number.
The retired Chief Justice, who made history in 2017 by annulling President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election over irregularities, revealed that 2,628 donors had collectively sent Ksh 8,023,192 via Paybill 416137. The contributions, he said, signal a growing citizen revolt against corruption, public fund theft, and the high cost of governance.
Speaking during his Ukatiba Caravan in Marigat, a visibly moved Maraga described the donations as “Kenya’s moment” a popular movement fuelled not by political dynasties or corporate cash, but by determined, faithful citizens refusing to give up on their country.

“Eight million shillings. Given by Kenyans. Ordinary, determined, faithful Kenyans, who refuse to give up on this country,” Maraga said. “I am humbled and deeply grateful. But the work ahead is immense. To reset, rebuild and restore Kenya will take every one of us – our prayers, our voices, and yes, our continued giving.”
The former CJ’s bid is anchored on the United Green Movement platform, with the rallying cry: “Reset. Restore. Rebuild.” “If you have not yet contributed, today is the day,” Maraga added. “If you have, tell someone. Share the details. Keep the fire burning. This is not my campaign. This is Kenya’s moment. Let us not waste it.”
