MBAVU DESTROYER FILES CASE CHALLENGING BOXING MATCH OUTCOME
The controversial Vurugu boxing match has now spilled from the ring into the courtroom. Ferdinand Omondi Akambavu, popularly known as Mbavu Destroyer, has filed a legal case challenging the outcome of his recent fight against Portifas Odipo aka Majembe, with media personality Steve Thompson Maghana also known as Oga Obinna named as a respondent.
The case, registered as SDTSC/E021/2026, seeks to overturn the judges’ decision and has exposed grievances over officiating and the conduct of the fight. According to court documents seen by this publication, Mbavu Destroyer has detailed six grounds of complaint against the respondents and the interested party: The 1st Respondent Majembe allegedly launched a deliberate low blow to the Claimant’s groin, leaving him seriously injured and requiring medical attention.
The referee reportedly failed to advise the judges to disqualify Majembe despite the foul. The judges did not disqualify the1st Respondent or award a technical decision to Mbavu Destroyer. In the alternative, the officials failed to declare a technical draw and schedule a rematch to determine the true Vurugu champion.
The 2nd Respondent is accused of assigning unqualified and incompetent persons to act as referee and judges. Victory was wrongly declared for the 1st Respondent Majembe. As a result of these alleged wrongful acts of omission and commission, the Claimant states that he has suffered loss and damage, particulars of which have been submitted to the tribunal.
Speaking on the development,Oga Obinna expressed shock that the dispute had escalated to litigation. In a social media post, he wrote, “Yawa🤦🏿♂️🙆🏿♂️🤣🤣🤣. Otek small. Kuna wakili anataka kukula pesa ya mbavu polepooooole🙆🏿♂️. I thought this thing was jokes btw when asked today by Rapcha on their podcast till I got served today evening.
The solution for this thing is easy. Get a rematch and take what’s yours but Kotini tena🙆🏿♂️, he is about to waste a lot of time and resources along those corridors. Ma advisor si wanakuwanga wengi🤦🏿♂️. Wale wa it’s scripted mnaona vile hii script yetu imeomoka🙄. Puga!!“
Obinna suggested that a rematch would be a simpler solution rather than prolonged court battles, warning that the legal route could drain time and resources. Boxer Majembe has also shared his frustration after being summoned to court just days after the fight, which was held at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.
