American actor and film producer Samuel L. Jackson has sent Kenyan social media into a tailspin after appearing in a video wearing a T-shirt featuring the Kenyan flag and the word “Jamhuri” Swahili for “republic”.

The video, posted on his official social media channels, shows the Hollywood icon making a political appeal to American voters. While wearing the Kenya-inspired shirt, Jackson urged Americans to head to the polls for the April 7 runoff election and vote for Shawn Harris for U.S. Congress.

Although his message was focused on American politics, Kenyan fans quickly zeroed in on the T-shirt with the Kenyan flag’s colours. Within hours, the video amassed thousands of comments from Kenyans expressing excitement, pride, and curiosity about Jackson’s connection to their country.
