MUM TOOK SH400,000 LOAN FOR MY UNIVERSITY FEES BUT I ENDED UP PREGNANT-KATE ACTRESS
Actress Catherine Kamau and the wife to producer Philip Karanja opened up how she got pregnant at 19 years old, and she was blessed with a son called Leon Isaac.
“After high school I joined KCA to pursue accounting but I failed terribly, so mum decided to take me to Uganda.
She took a loan of Sh400,000 to take me to Kampala International University but three months later I was pregnant. I decided to come back home, I wrote her a letter to inform her I was pregnant.
I had really disappointed her, but she allowed me to come back home. But when I gave birth, I used to do everything for my baby, she would wake me up at 5 am to wash his nappies. I felt the transition to being a mother, I took care of my child for two years before she took me back to school.
I joined Multimedia University but I dropped out when I landed a role on Mother in Law TV show.”
She also said it was hard for her 14-year-old son to accept Philip when they started dating, “It was not easy introducing my son to Philip, but they became friends. For the longest time, he used to call him Phil until when we were about to get married thats when he called him dad.
When we started dating people could not believe it, Philip never used to like me, he thought I was so extra. In 2012 I started taking myself seriously as a brand and I used to go to him a lot and he realised I was not that bad; the rest is history.”
