By  |

Rapper Julius Owino Ooko aka Juliani has threatened to take legal action against Jubilee Party for using his song Utawala to promote BBI in an online video without his authorization.

“Our client instructs us that on the 31 October 2020 at 13:56hrs, a promotional video was posted on your party’s Twitter handle captioned, “Did you know that the #BBIreport proposes the establishment of the office of ombudsman of the judiciary which shall play the important oversight roll & receive complaints from the members of the public against judicial officers? @AlbertMEM @TheRealBBI.”

We are further instructed by our client that you used a portion of his song titled Utawala at the soundtrack of the said promotional video. Our client being the author/composer of the song, enjoys exclusive rights under the copyright law hence his creative work cannot be used by anyone else for whatever purpose without his authorization. Only the copyright owner has the right to reproduce, publish communicate/make available, perform or make an adaptation of his creative work and any other person or entity would require a license to do the same to avoid infringement,” his statement read in part.
