MELVIN ALUSA WINS BEST ACTOR AT ZANZIBAR INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (ZIFF)
Popular Kenyan film Mission to Rescue has won Best East African Film at the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF). Foxton Media announced that the film scooped the Best East African Film award and actor Melvin Alusa who plays Captain Baraza won the Best Actor award. “Mission to Rescue wins Best East African Film award at The Zanzibar International Film Festival and our very own Captain Baraza wins Best Actor,” wrote Foxton Media.
Following the win, Alusa shared a photo holding the award and wrote, “Mission to Rescue, Best Feature Film and I was awarded the Best Actor Award at ZIFF. God I give thanks and praise to you. It’s a feeling like no other,” wrote Alusa.
Mission to Rescue is a Kenyan movie set along the Kenya-Somali border, where Kenya’s Special Operations Forces are training for their next mission but they receive word that the Assistant County Commissioner and two others have been abducted by the Al-Shabaab militia.
The film stems from the story of a French woman who was kidnapped by the Al-shabab. Created in 2019, the idea seeks to highlight the effects of radicalisation within the community and aims to curb terrorism. The Movie was produced by Kara Voice Wambui and Directed by Gildert Lukalia.
