ACTRESS GLORIA ‘NYABOKE’ MORAA TALKS ABOUT GROWING UP IN KIBRA, ELOPING WITH HIGH SCHOOL BOYFRIEND & CHALLENGES IN FILM INDUSTRY (VIDEO)

Actress Gloria ‘Nyaboke’ Moraa discussed her upbringing and her childhood life. Speaking in a recent interview with Buzz Central, the mother of four disclosed that she was born in Kibra, Nairobi where they lived for years before moving to Utawala. “I was born and brought up in Kibra and we lived there all my life. I went to Olympic primary school and Larry Asego’s mum was my teacher but we moved to Utawala when I was in Form 2 and that is where we live up to now,” she said.

Moraa also talked about her first relationship, revealing that she moved in with her then boyfriend (first husband) immediately after finishing high school. “I got married immediately after high school. We started dating when I was in high school and he was working. After finishing my form four I wanted to leave the school with my home clothes and go straight to him but my sister came to pick me and I was like, ‘why is she coming to pick me?’ so I wore my uniform back because if my father saw me with home clothes, he would be pissed off,” she added.

She then started working with her husband shortly before she got pregnant and gave birth to his firstborn child there after. “I went home with my sister and after changing I went straight to my boyfriend so automatically we got married and he had a video library along Mombasa Road and we started working together before I got pregnant, I gave birth and went back to work,” said Moraa.

On her relationship with departed husband Benjamin Ayimba’s other baby mamas, Moraa said they were close and they would organise sleepovers but they no longer do so. “We used to but now things have changed because of the friction but we talk and our kids know each other and all that,” she added.

She also highlighted the challenges in the acting industry, “The problem is with producers. Without the talent there is no advert or a movie but you find the crew are paid more than the cast so I don’t understand but it’s time we stood up. It doesn’t make sense to delay payments three to six months, how do you expect someone to pay rent? It is very unfair to stay with people’s money when they have worked for it,” she said.
