EAST AFRICA’S GOT TALENT WINNERS ESTHER AND EZEKIEL MUTESASIRA SAY THEY HAVE NEVER RECEIVED PRIZE MONEY $50,000
Ugandan singing duo Esther and Ezekiel Mutesasira took the internet by a storm after revealing they are yet to receive the winner’s grand prize two years after winning East Africa’s Got Talent (EAGT) competition. Esther and Ezekiel won the top prize worth Sh5 million ($50,000) for showcasing their exceptional music talent in the 2019 edition of the EAGT show that took place in Nairobi.
In a social media post, the duo said that they were frustrated following the delay, adding that they came out to seek speedy resolution to the release of the cash prize. “It’s you that did vote for us, we had lost hope but by God’s grace we won EAGT competitions. Today we still haven’t received the Winner’s prize money. It’s very sad. 2 years of wait. Hey beloved ones, we are beyond frustrated, we are writing this to seek speedy resolution to the delayed release of East Africa Got Talent $50,000 cash prize that was supposed to be given to us the winners,” the duo said.
Esther and Ezekiel acknowledged the impact that the competition had on their musical career, however, maintaining that it is their duty to release funds as promised. “Don’t get us wrong it’s been such an amazing experience, very humbling, inspiring other young kids and all the amazing people we’ve met along the way! While we appreciate the platform EAGT gave us, it’s their duty as well to fulfil the promises,” the duo stated.
The siblings said that they had promised to donate some amount to different charities but it has now turned out to be empty promises. “This is a serious concern to us as the funds are delayed, no one from EAGT has reached out like you recall, we promised to donate some of the money to different charities and wouldn’t want to make empty promises,” they concluded.
