ZORA ACTOR BLESSING LUNG’AHO TALKS ABOUT BATTLING DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY

By  |

Zora actor Blessing Lung’aho has opened up about battling depression and anxiety, speaking to Buzz Central the actor said he was depressed working as a project manager and he decided to quit his job

“I feel like art is a curse and if you have the calling to create art it is not something you can run from, it will find you whether you are 10 or 70 years. I worked as a project manager for a financial institution for about 10 months and I was depressed every day and it was just not in me.”

The actor also talked about having anxiety, “It took a while for me to realise that all the rejection I go through audition after audition builds up and you start doubting yourself and it led to my anxiety. In this industry we don’t have structures where you can go and say you are dealing with anxiety so for me I had to acknowledge I need to work on it and I actively do that everyday. When I get overwhelmed I know I need to chill.”

Coming from a family of learned people his mother did understand why he wanted to be an actor, “I come from an academic family, I think God gave everyone a brain and when they got to me there was no more but I got the talent. Everyone excelled in school in my family and we have 27 degrees.

My mum is traditional, she is a professor and she knows life is going to school, work hard and get a job and a wife. The first time I was on set I was extremely excited and she called and asked me if there was an office and I said it’s a set, she said that it was not a job. She has to unlearn years of conditioning.
