NOLLYWOOD ACTOR AMAECHI MUONAGOR DIES AT 62

The Nigerian film industry mourns the loss of veteran actor Amaechi Muonagor, who passed away on March 24 after a prolonged battle with kidney disease.

Days prior to his passing, Amaechi was seen in a viral video appealing for financial aid from Nigerians to facilitate his journey abroad for a crucial kidney transplant. Confirming the tragic news, renowned film director Ugeze J. Ugeze revealed that the late actor had been discharged from the hospital recently, as he awaited funds for his subsequent treatment overseas. “Muonagor gave his all. He was somebody I directed several times. God knows the best,“ said Ugeze.

Popular social media influencer and chairman of Delta State Sports Association, Morris Monye, wrote on his official X formerly Twitter that he was deeply heartbroken by the actor’s death. “Deeply heartbroken by the news of Amaechi Muonagor’s passing. He was a talented Nollywood actor whose presence on our screens was truly masterful. We watched with concern as he battled health issues, offering whatever support we could to help him seek treatment in India. This tragic loss highlights the need for better healthcare in our country,” he wrote.
