‘I TRIED COCAINE AND IT WASN’T FOR ME’ PENDO REVEALS

Being a musician and reality star or generally a creative is not glamorous and polished at all times. Behind the curtains, they undergo untold struggles and suffering that may be unexposed to the world. Pendo, aka the Ghetto Princess, has opened up on some of the challenges she has faced in her career as a creative.

Pendo has come clean in one of the storylines in the Nairobi Diaries, where Bridget Achieng had accused her of taking cocaine. She confessed that Bridget once saw her taking the ‘nose candy’ and decided to make it public on the show. Pendo has confirmed that she took cocaine but alluded that she has since ditched the hard drugs after it didn’t work well with her.

Experience is the best teacher. Things happen in the industry, and you try things. She probably just saw me one day trying and she tried as well. I tried it but it is not my thing,” she said. “It is wasting money. It’s an expensive and meaningless lifestyle that doesn’t help your creativity,” she added.

On the challenges as an artist, Pendo stated that she was once physically assaulted by her producer Kevin Provoke when they were recording her second song dubbed ‘Pieces of My Heart.’ Narrating the awful experience, she said that she attempted to confront Kevin to know the reason for the assault, but he did not respond. Later, Kevin deleted the music video that they had uploaded on YouTube. She had paid for the video but decided to let go after unfruitful follow-ups with the producer.

Despite encountering vast stumbling blocks in her career as a content creator, Pendo has ridden out stoically, and she has recently released an Extended Play (EP) titled ‘Illusion,’ a composite of five songs.
