Fast-rising actress, singer, poet, and writer Serah Wanjiru has shared detailed her life story and how she began her acting career. Speaking to Buzz Central, the 22-year old disclosed that she was raised by a single mother in shared custody with her 8-year old sister and she is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce at Kenyatta University.

The multifaceted woman who currently plays Neema on Citizen TV’s teen drama series Paa – Born to Fly and initially starred as Amina in the Netflix romantic comedy Sincerely Daisy noted that she started off as a poet then switched to acting.

Poetry came first. When I was younger, I performed poems – solo verses. Then growing older, getting more exposure, and getting into different stages, I knew about acting and adopted it. When I got to high school, I started experimenting with writing, and for me, I do creative writing,” she narrated.

When asked about her experience on Paa seriesSerah says that she enjoys working with their director, who has always given them creative freedom when acting. Comparing her role as Neema, an ambitious and hardworking girl in Paa, to her high school life, Serah says, “I was pretty much like Neema. I was very determined and used to read a lot. The good thing about Neema is that she has a balance. You can see in the show that she plays football. Now for me, apart from being hardworking in class, I was also into music and drama and had some level of discipline. I am really a lot like Neema.”

She says that one of her remarkable memories while acting was when she got her first onscreen kiss when shooting Netflix Film Sincerely Daisy. “I had my first onscreen kiss on Sincerely Daisy which was refreshing and considering my parents had to watch it and they were actually proud of me. I was kinda scared, it was really a fun set and we also didn’t know we were shooting the show for Netflix. After we were done shooting and it was edited, we were told it was going to Netflix. It was crazy, we didn’t expect it and we were all screaming, it took us all by surprisethat was a major highlight.”

Weighing on her career challenges, she noted she has encountered financial hurdles and lifestyle pressure, but she has been able to work through them. The sassy actress, who wants to work with film director Likarion, attributed her success to the ardent support she receives from her mother. She says her mother is her biggest fan, and she sometimes consults her when making crucial decisions. Talking about her love life, Serah says she is currently in a relationship.
