BAHATI’S BABY MAMA YVETTE OBURA SPEAKS ON CO-PARENTING WITH DIANA MARUA

By  |

Bahati’s wife Diana Marua has talked about co-parenting with her hubby’s baby mama Yvette Obura disclosing that it has never been an easy journey.

In a YouTube interview, Diana invited Yvette for lunch and the two had an open talk in which the duo took fans down memory lane to days when they hated  each other. Diana stated that she first learned about Yvette when she was dating Bahati. He had opened up about having a daughter and she decided to date the singer and their relationship ended in marriage.

However, their engagement did not sit well with Yvette, who had just from giving birth to their daughter Mueni. She wondered how Bahati had quickly moved on, “That period when you guys (Bahati & Diana) met, I had just given birth, the baby was young, and I was fresh from break up. I asked myself how fast he had met someone else. I kept stalking you, wanting to know – who is this Diana Marua? –  I realised you are the one on his music videos,” she said.

I was a first-time mom babysitting, nursing a breakup, and depression. We had a conversation with Bahati, but at the end of the day, you can’t hold someone who is not in love anymore. It took three to four years to heal completely.” She added.

She further pointed out that things took a toll on her when Mueni was growing up, and she needed Bahati to provide for her but felt locked out because they were not on talking terms. Diana confessed to being jealous when the two talked, and had blocked her from reaching out to him. She recalled an incident when she texted Bahati, and Diana fired back, warning her of communicating with her husband without her being notified.

I remember this one time when I was running my errands, and you called me using Bahati’s phone saying, ‘every time you want to talk to Bahati about Mueni, make sure you text him strictly about the baby‘.”

According to Diana, she became resentful after finding out that Bahati and Yvette were communicating when she saw text messages on his phone one night, and she tried to confront him the following morning, but he refused to explain what they were discussing and had even deleted the message. This made her suspicious and protective of their relationship.

Twisting the knife in the wound, Mueni had started visiting their place, and at one time, they went for a photoshoot, and she went ahead and posted their photo on Instagram but ended up receiving hate messages. They beefed for a while and even wanted to bar Mueni from coming to their home, but Bahati kept bringing her. Their interaction made her later change her mind after realising that the child was an innocent soul and she should not be involved in their strained relationship.

When I was receiving social media trolls, I hardened, and it reached a point that I didn’t want to see the child in the house, but Bahati wanted to see her and brought her even without my knowledge. We were rivals and had even told Bahati that I must be present when he is calling you. After some time, I looked at her and saw that she is very innocent. She was hugging me, and I felt that I should take care of her as my own even when I had not gotten a child.” Diana said.

The duo commended Bahati for contributing to the mending of their relationship when he once forced the two to talk when Mueni had visited them and needed some things before she could start school. At that time, Diana bought the requirements because she was the one dropping Mueni by Yvette’s home that day.

Also, when Mueni paid casual visits to Diana’s house, she came back and praised Diana as a good mom who buys her gifts. This made Yvette trust Diana, and they co-parent well to date. Mueni visits her almost every weekend.
