SERAH NDANU ON DATING VICTOR WANYAMA FOR 6 YEARS, CHALLENGES OF MOTHERHOOD AND NEW TV SERIES
Popular Kenyan actress Serah Ndanu has opened up about her relationship with football star Victor Wanyama. Speaking exclusively to Buzz Central, the mother of one said they have been dating for six years, “It’s been six years of fun and dating and being together and enjoying ourselves, you know we are very private individuals and that’s how we keep it. Anything that we want to share with the public in due time, about whether we are married or not, that is something that will get to know with time.”
Ndanu said motherhood has given her perspective and she is now goal oriented, “I didn’t know that I’ll enjoy motherhood as much as I do right now because I just did not know what life is I didn’t have a purpose but when you are a mom it just gives a whole new meaning and a whole new purpose to life.
This little bundle of joy brought 20 times more love and meaning to my life. It has also strengthened our bond as a family and we are more goal oriented. The discussions change as parents, now we are starting to look at schools. When we are going out to the restaurants we have to check if it’s baby friendly, small things like those which are so exciting that you never thought that you would.”
Though she jetted in the country with her child to shoot the project. Serah says because of demanding working hours she has missed major milestones in her son’s life, “I can tell you the number of times I find myself crying on set because, you know, I’m on set and then the nanny texts me to say, he just learned how to say hi and you just be like, Oh my goodness. I wasn’t there for that. And there’s also that guiltiness as a mom that you feel like you’re supposed to be there with your baby.
You’re supposed to be taking the baby through that but you have to work and you have to balance all these things. I find myself crying so much and sometimes even like it has helped me so much with the emotional scenes because I always miss my baby and the tears just come.“
She says after shooting the project she will fly back to join Wanyama, “Like right now the baby and I had to come to Kenya just to shoot the project. As soon as we are done with the project, we are going to join him. But it’s been tough because he’s also missing baby moments and milestones and he feels like I should have been there to do that.
When the baby is trying to take the mini steps. He’s feeling so bad, sometimes it really affects him and I can see that. So it’s been a huge sacrifice for me and him. But at the same time. We know how much this project means to both of us and how much the baby means to both of us. But the good thing is, we are coming to the end and we are going to be reunited and we are going to recover all the last moments that we’ve been apart.”
On being double casted on her new roles as Nicole and Linda on Igiza TV Series, she says it has been challenging, “That was really challenging, making sure that the audience are able to see the difference between the two characters especially when the twins are interacting together. I’m always nervous playing the two characters just because I am a perfectionist, and my hope is that the audience is going to be able to differentiate between Nicole and Linda.”
She is also one of the influencers for Fenty Beauty, “I’m currently working with Fenty Beauty which is going to be launching on the 27th of May in Africa. I’m very selective with the brands that I want to work with because of the direction that I want to take as an actor, everything that I do has to branch down into being an actor, so I don’t want to do anything that is really out of me being an actor.”
