By  |

Comedian Oga Obinna is stepping in front of the camera for his acting debut. The popular radio host put his acting skills to the test in a new drama series titled Igiza.

Speaking to Buzz Central about the project, Obinna said he was called to audition for the role, “I was called by the casting director to audition for the role. Luckily I got the part but the shooting wasn’t easy. We shot the whole night. Finished at around 6am. My feet were on fire, I had to go home, change and straight to my morning show.”

Obinna says he is open to star in more productions, “I’m now a professional actor. I’ve officially crossed over and added an extra feather to my hat.” Though he did not reveal how much he was paid, he said he was well compensated, “If you see me anywhere that’s not CSR just know its worth it plus its Showmax abeg.”

The series is set against the backdrop of Nairobi’s fashion industry and the infamous wash wash, Igiza is a story of revenge between twin sisters Linda and Nicole. Twelve years into serving time, Nicole breaks out of prison and takes the place of her identical twin sister Linda, who framed her. Nicole intends to take back everything she is owed. But there is only one obstacle: her sister’s seemingly wonderful life is filled with dark secrets that threaten to destroy her.

Obinna stars alongside industry bigwigs Serah Ndanu, Ainea Ojiambo, Blessing Lung’aho, Sisison Torome and Kevin Samuel among others.
