AMBER RAY ON WHY HER BABY DADDY REFUSED TO CHANGE DIAPERS
Socialite Amber Ray has shared her experience raising her firstborn son Gavin Classic.
In a social media post, Amber posted a photo of her fiancé Kennedy Rapudo changing their daughter’s diaper and revealed her first baby daddy refused to do it saying its a taboo in his culture, “With my Kikuyu baby daddy this was a big taboo, ati ‘hizo ni kazi za wanawake my culture doesn’t allow’ na saa hizo no househelp, maji nachota kwa borehole then wash clothes. Kwanza nappies, cook and still stay awake the whole night taking care of the baby. So my peeps, this here is one of my many answered prayers.”
In a past interview, Amber said her baby daddy was abusive, “It all changed after I got the baby. He got a serious job and he started cheating on me and the disrespect became too much. That’s when I started selling Matumbo. I could not go back home, I’m the firstborn in my family and at the time, they did not believe in single motherhood you had to be married.”
He would come home drunk and physically assault her, “One day I got home and my house manager was worried, she asked me about Gavin’s dad. I told her he was at work. I got in the bed and he came home drunk. That night he hit me and my 10 year old brother stopped him. He used to beat me properly, it was so bad.
I walked from my place to parent’s home bare foot, bleeding, my eyes were swollen, I could not see. My mum opened the door and they were shocked. I didn’t go to the police or hospital. I decided to focus on my baby, I went back, picked my clothes and moved back home. Since then we talk but we are not friends, he is close with his son.”
Her advice to women in abusive relationships, “If you have someone toxic in your life, leave, do not care about what people say.”
