JOURNALIST IAN WAFULA LANDS NEW ROLE AT BBC
Journalist Ian Wafula has landed a new role with British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
Wafula took to his Instagram today to reveal that he is the new Africa Security Correspondent for the BBC, ”I am now the Africa Security Correspondent for the BBC based in Nairobi. Looking forward to cover the continent and learn from its complex security nuances. Special thanks to my friends & family for being my constant cheerleaders. As well as my editors Juliet Njeri, Vera Kwakofi & Newton Ndebu for believing in me. Let’s go!”
On July 20, 2023, Ian celebrated his graduation from Cardiff University where he was taking a master’s program in International Journalism. “We did it! Just bagged my MA in International Journalism from @cardiffuni! Thanks so much @cheveningfcdo for believing in me. And to my lovely family.”
In August 2018, Wafula parted ways with K24 after accepting a new offer from the British owned media house, “New chapter. Looking forward to starting soon at the BBC as Broadcast Journalist, News Review. I’d like to call it my new home but it’s bigger than that, the next step in my career.
I’ve seen God’s manifestation in this process having been rejected 4 times after endless tests and grueling interviews. What’s yours is yours, at the right time. Thanking my family and close friends for standing by me. Special thanks for the three challenging words “You deserve better” that took me out of my comfort zone to yearn for greater opportunities,” he shared.
