‘I USED TO DRINK EVERY DAY’ SIZE 8 OPENS UP
Gospel singer Linet Munyali popularly known as Size 8, candidly shared the challenges she faced with fame during the peak of her music career.
In a candid interview with Citizen TV, the mother of two shed light on the profound effects her rising fame had on both her personal life and friendships. “When I pursued secular music, I was after money and not fame. In three years, I was on top. I had shows on Citizen TV like Mashtaka and Sakata and things were good. I started making good money. I even bought my first car in cash. I used to live in a penthouse but I was depressed, money is not everything, because when I got the money and fame, I lost true love, I lost peace. People didn’t love me for me. I used to cry all the time and I’d drink a certain brand of alcohol,” Size 8 said.
She recognised that, without a shift in her lifestyle, she would have spiralled into a dangerous path of addiction. “My real friends became jealous and fake friends even more jealous. I used to drink every day. If didn’t do a turnaround that time, right now I would have been a serious alcoholic or I would have committed suicide. I released secular music that was not what I thought it would be I gave my life to Jesus and started singing gospel.”
