A Kibera court allowed an application by the police to detain DJ Joe Mfalme and six others, pending further investigation into the alleged assault on Kabete cop Felix Kelian. Magistrate Margret Murage said the suspects will be detained for 14 days. The DCI had requested 21 days.
The initial investigation by the investigating officer indicated that Felix Kelian, a DCI officer, was involved in an accident while driving his Subaru near Kikuyu Police Station on March 16.
His vehicle collided with another vehicle carrying five occupants. Ms. Wako, a traffic police officer, arrived at the scene and found Kelian being assaulted. He was taken to the police station where he complained of abdominal pain and passing blood while urinating.
Kelian was released, his condition deteriorated on his way home. He was then rushed to Nairobi West Hospital, where he was admitted due to lower abdominal pain. He passed away on March 21.
