‘I’M NOT THE OWNER’ YVONNE MUGURE DENIES INVOLVEMENT IN WESTWICK COLLEGE SCANDAL
Yvonne Mugure has come forward to state her position regarding the controversy surrounding Westwick College, which has been accused of falsely obtaining money and offering unaccredited nursing certificate courses.
Mugure, who served as the Marketing Director for the institution, has categorically denied any involvement in the alleged fraudulent activities. In a statement, Mugure addressed the emotional toll the scandal has taken on her life, including the tragic loss of her first child. She explained that her role at Westwick College was strictly within the marketing department and she was not an owner or executive of the institution.
“I was seen as the face of the school because of my role as Marketing Director, but I did not own the school or manage its operations. My responsibilities included advertising, social media marketing, video planning, and student registrations,” said Mugure. “I understand the confusion, as the title ‘director’ may have been misconstrued, but I have consistently stated my position in every public communication I’ve made.”
Mugure revealed that her connection to the scandal led to her being labeled a “scammer” by online critics, facing severe cyberbullying, and enduring intense professional and personal challenges. She recounted how these events coincided with her pregnancy, which ended in the devastating loss of her child due to the stress of the situation. “For months, I was interrogated and bullied online. Someone even changed my caller ID on Truecaller to ‘Yvonne Scammer,’ which I only discovered later. Amid all of this, my body couldn’t handle the stress, and I lost my baby,” she said.
She also expressed frustration that her name was not listed in any documents as an owner of the institution, yet she became a primary target for public criticism. “This has been the most challenging period of my life. I was wrongly implicated in this scandal simply because I was the public face of the school,” she stated.
