SUZANNA OWIYO CONDEMNS RUSSIAN NATIONAL’S EXPLOITATION OF KENYAN WOMEN

Kenyan musician Suzanna Owiyo has added her voice to the growing condemnation against a Russian national accused of exploiting Kenyan women and sharing intimate footage on social media without their consent.

The celebrated artist expressed shock and disappointment at how easily the foreigner manipulated local women, questioning what she described as a troubling erosion of self-respect and cultural values.

It’s shocking to see how easily some of our ladies were drawn in by a manipulative Russian ‘Mzungu.’ And seriously, what happened to self-respect? We don’t even recognise ourselves anymore! A simple greeting shouldn’t grant access. Y’out here hawking kasusu kaa njugu karanga!” she lamented.

Owiyo joins a growing list of prominent Kenyan figures, including Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo and others, who have called for the arrest and prosecution of the Russian national identified as Yaytseslav Trahov.

The videos, which circulated widely on TikTok and other platforms, show the man approaching women in public spaces in Nairobi and persuading them to accompany him to private residences, with the encounters recorded and posted online without their knowledge or consent.
