Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament, Peter Kaluma, has threatened to auction property belonging to The Standard Group PLC to recover more than KSh 11 million awarded to him in a defamation case.

Kaluma says his auctioneers will move in, “Early morning tomorrow, my auctioneers will attach and cart away all proclaimed assets of The Standard Group to recover this judgment debt,” Kaluma said. “The Police will assist with forceful entry, if necessary.”

The money comes from a court ruling in Civil Suit No. 235 of 2018. The High Court in Nairobi ordered The Standard Group and three others to pay Kaluma KSh 11,447,536. This includes the original amount, interest, and court costs.

The warrant of attachment, issued on November 13, 2025, names Garam Auctioneers to handle the seizure of movable property. The case started after Kaluma sued the media house for defamation. The court ruled in his favour. The Standard Group has not yet commented on the MP’s threat.
