SINGER NIKITA KERING SET TO DROP THE LICK BACK EP FEATURING SOFIYA NZAU

Award-winning Kenyan singer and songwriter Nikita Kering has officially announced her new project, The Lick Back EP, scheduled to drop on May 29th.

In a statement, Nikita opened up about her struggle with vulnerability in the public eye, “Every time I wanna be vulnerable on here I just delete everything ’cause fr this internet be waiting for a chance to misunderstand you. My thoughts and the conversations I have with myself are so precious to me.

But I just came to realise that I’m losing you by keeping them to myself. I’m losing my connection with you, and so now I’m just a stranger sharing a product with no back story, nothing to keep you here.”

She continued, revealing the theme driving the EP: revenge. “So, here’s what I’ll say. I’m up. My EP is about revenge. For everything, and to everyone (that deserves it). Instead of me trying to share the inspiration here… blah blah blah, listen to the music. That’s where I share everything. ’Cause one thing I did this time is write.”

The EP marks a return to raw songwriting for Nikita, who encouraged fans to engage directly with the lyrics. She shared a photo of the tracklist and asked listeners to identify their favourite lines, noting her own personal favorite: the “Karanga” line.

“Hopefully you’ll come back and tell me your favorite line. Mine is the ‘Karanga’ line. I’ve shared a picture of the tracklist lmk which song you think will be your fave. Okay now. I love you if you read all this. I really do love you. You’re the reason I’m still doing this.”
