Musician Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, took to social media to share a detailed breakdown of her monthly skincare and grooming budget.

In her viral post, Akothee posed a question to her followers: “If I tell a man that my skincare products cost KSh 100,000 a month, will he say I’m expensive?”

She then proceeded to itemise the additional costs that accompany her monthly maintenance regimen, including waxing at KSh 7,000, facials at KSh 7,000, massage at KSh 6,000, body scrub at KSh 5,000, pedicure, manicure and nails at KSh 10,000, and hair care ranging between KSh 10,000 to KSh 20,000 per month.

“So, look at this budget and don’t complain, just calculate,” she wrote. “Divide it however you can, then be consistent with your contribution to maintaining this body!”

Her decision to go public with the figures comes at a time when she has also been candid about prioritising her wellbeing following significant health challenges, including severe migraines, uterine fibroids, and a blood clot diagnosis that led her to suspend all projects in August 2025.

The mother of five has previously spoken about her journey from teenage motherhood and economic hardship to becoming one of Kenya’s most recognisable entertainment and business figures. “Maintaining this body is a full-time investment,” Akothee noted in her post.
