BOUTROSS & GROOVY JO AMONG KENYAN ACTS SET TO PERFORM AT NYEGE NYEGE FESTIVAL

Nyege Nyege Festival, Uganda’s music and arts festival, returns for its 8th edition in Jinja City, Uganda on 9 – 12 November 2023. 

Kenya’s very own: Boutross, Groovy Jo, Olith Ratego (Odd Okoddo), Chovu, DJ IV, DJ Mawinch, Paps, Sam Karugu, Slim B, SNSE, Kanèda, DJ Boboss and Uncle Shapps will take centre stage at the African festival, known to take its revellers on an unforgettable musical journey through its signature contemporary music–widely considered to be the greatest showcase of Underground African music.

Nyege Nyege will take place in the heart of Jinja on River Nile’s front conjoined sites: Jinja Golf Course, banks of the River Nile and Jinja Showground. The lineup will be spread across 9 stages with this edition promising to be the most impressive and affirming to date. African music stars including Eddy Kenzo, Sho Madjozi, Bushali, A Pass, Janzi band, Aunty Rayzor and Karol Kasita are among acts drawn from around Africa, the diaspora and beyond. More than 40 countries will be represented in this musical extravaganza. 

The festival and its associated labels; Hakuna Kulala, Nyege Nyege Tapes and collective have defined the vanguard of new sounds emerging from the continent. The mega festival’s title derived from Luganda language meaning ‘irresistible urge to dance when you hear enchanting music’.
