DJ JOE MFALME TO SPEND 14 DAYS IN POLICE CUSTODY
A Kibera court has allowed an application by the police to detain Joseph Mwenda alias DJ Joe Mfalme and six others, pending further investigation into the alleged assault on Kabete cop Felix Kelian.
Magistrate Margret Murage said the suspects will be detained for 14 days. The DCI had requested 21 days. DJ Joe will be detained at Muthangari police station together with Eric Gathua and Simon Wanjiru.
Allan Ochieng will be detained at Kabete police station while the three officers Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Rotich and Agnes Mogoi at Riruta station. The court directed the matter to be mentioned on April 8.
The initial investigation by the investigating officer indicated that Felix Kelian, a DCI officer, was involved in an accident while driving his Subaru near Kikuyu Police Station on March 16.
His vehicle collided with another vehicle carrying five occupants. Ms. Wako, a traffic police officer, arrived at the scene and found Kelian being assaulted. He was taken to the police station where he complained of abdominal pain and passing blood while urinating.
Kelian was released, his condition deteriorated on his way home. He was then rushed to Nairobi West Hospital, where he was admitted due to lower abdominal pain. He passed away on March 26.
