Miss Universe Kenya Removes Kevin Bellwood as National Director
Miss Universe Kenya has part ways National Director Kevin Bellwood following allegations of misconduct made against him, the organisation confirmed in a press statement.
Bellwood was initially placed on administrative leave effective 12 July 2026, a period that extended through the Grand Finale held on 25 July 2026. While Management confirmed that it received no direct submissions or formal evidence to substantiate the claims that had been circulating on social media, MUK Management and Bellwood have mutually agreed to terminate his role as National Pageant Director.
In the same statement, MUK Management addressed growing public interest and questions regarding the integrity of the Grand Finale outcome. The organisation outlined measures taken to safeguard the selection process, emphasising that panelists and coaches who worked directly with delegates during the boot camps and casting rounds did not participate in Grand Finale judging.
The final scoring, the organisation explained, was entrusted to an independent panel featuring leaders in pageantry, brand management, the Kenyan creative space, global talent management, and individuals with familiarity with the international Miss Universe aesthetic.
MUK Management acknowledged the investment supporters have in their favourite delegates while reiterating that its responsibility is to ensure a fair, rigorous, and impartial selection that yields a globally competitive national representative.
Regarding inquiries concerning international advisors‘ involvement in MUK 2026, the organisation clarified that it maintains active regional and global networks that serve purely in a creative and strategic advisory capacity. While these external advisors play valuable sounding board roles, all key executive decisions, operational controls, and final outcomes remain strictly governed by MUK Management.
The organisation further noted that while these advisors contribute their expertise to the platform, they operate independently and continue their professional pursuits across global markets without restriction.
