ONDIEK NYUKA KWOTA TALKS QUITTING HIS JOB AND PURSUING ACTING

Ondiek Nyoka Kwota has become a household name due to his acting prowess. His real name is actually Hirum Mungai and it’s easy to just refer to him as Ondiek. In an interview with, the veteran actor revealed a few things most people don’t know about him.

“When I got into Vioja Mahakamani it wasn’t because of the money, it was a passion for me. My last manager called me and told me he had seen me on TV. He told me to choose between my sales and marketing job and acting. He gave me a day to sleep over it“, Ondiek says.

But Ondiek’s mind was already made up, “I looked at him and said, ‘sir, I don’t need to sleep over it. I think I belong in acting.’ I left my full-time job to pursue acting even though I was earning very little money back then from Sh5 to Sh20.”

He also mentioned his character, who is separate from who he is. “There’s Ondiek Nyuka Kwota who’s from Nyanza. He’s a very proud man with many wives.”

But Hirum Mungai is different from Ondiek and he says, “Ondiek’s beliefs are contrary to the beliefs of Hira Mungai and I try to stick to my true self away from the screen.”
