By  |

Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has been a busy woman. Aside from acting in Hollywood films, she’s an author of a children’s book Sulwe. The critically acclaimed book tackles colourism and encourages kids to be comfortable in their skin.

Sulwe is coming home, at last! You can now find editions in Kenya in English, Swahili and my mother tongue, Luo. My childhood inspired Sulwe’s story. I hope the book’s message can continue to travel the world for readers of all ages, but it’s especially meaningful to bring it home!” an excited Lupita wrote on her latest post.

Sulwe was released last year and when Lupita spoke about it when it was released, she said, “My goal in writing Sulwe is to provide young children with a path towards seeing their own beauty regardless of what society tells them.” “Hatimaye, #Sulwe anakuja nyumbani!

Hasa muhimu kuuleta ujumbe huu nyumbani!”
