MUSICIANS NIKITA KERING, BENSOUL AND SAUTI SOL NOMINATED FOR AFRIMA AWARDS 2021

The International Committee of All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) in conjunction with The African Union Commission on Wednesday, September 22 released the 2021 nominees list. This year’s awards featured over 400 songs from artistes in the 30 continental and 10 regional categories with over 8,880 songs submitted for adjudication. 

Kenyan artistes on the list include Nikita Kering, Sauti Sol and Bensoul of Sol Generation. Through her Instagram page, Kering expressed gratitude following the nomination, further asking for support from her fans to bring the award home. “I cannot describe the honor that it is to be listed amongst such talents! Thank you Afrim Awards voting begins soon! Let’s bring this home,” wrote Kering

East African musicians who were nominated are Zuchu, Rayvanny and Nandy of Tanzania and Afrie of Uganda. Leading the 2021 AFRIMA nominations scorecard is South Africa’s sensation duo, Blaq Diamond with eight nominations for their song, ‘SummerYoMuthi’.  Wizkid follows closely with six nominations and Nigeria’s sensation, Omah Lay with four nominations.  The event held Lagos, Nigeria from November 19 to 21, 2021.
