DJ PROTEGE BLASTS AMINA ABDI FOR REFUSING TO PAY FOR SERVICES HE RENDERED OVER A YEAR AGO

By  |

Veteran Kenyan entertainer DJ Protege has accused popular TV host Amina Abdi Rabar of failing to pay him even after procuring his sound services a year ago.

In a lengthy Instagram post, the celebrity DJ cried foul as he narrated the incident that occurred on June 1, 2021, when Amina invited him to play music at her sister Shukri Abdi’s birthday. Protege regarded the gig as worthwhile, which came in handy for him and his team because they were facing an economic downturn due to the long pandemic stretch.

Enyewe Kikulacho ki nguoni mwako, a year ago on Madaraka day I should have just slept!!…during the bite of the lockdown your fav femcee Amina called to play for her sister’s birthday party, after several dry months, I was really excited to activate my team whose income had been greatly affected to come through. Little did I know this was a charity gig. A year later, still waiting for payment,” reads part of his post.

What pains him the most is that the event organizer, Sharon Khisa, from Planet Play Kenya event planning services company, had used her own money, meant to cover her child’s hospital bill, to finance the party expecting a return that never came to be.

What’s worse is the organizer of the event, my good pal from @planetplaykenya paid for these champagne bottles from her own pocket out of good faith with the promise they will settle the bill on arrival. This is something she’s still recovering from then to today & what’s worse is the money was meant to settle her child’s hefty hospital bills!”

DJ Protege says they settled the bills themselves and cried out a betrayal from a colleague in the entertainment industry, saying it is ironic since she was supposed to understand what entertainers are going through.

@planetplaykenya @nairobiphotoboothco, myself & maybe others, were forced to foot our own logistics costs. We chased payment for several months & gave up after realizing we won’t be paid. Lockdown forced us to write off so many debts, but what bothers me is organizing your parties in the height of the lockdown pinch then making no attempt to even compensate for our expenses. lt cuts even deeper because it’s someone in the same industry with us, who I held a lot of respect for & who should know the shit we go through to abandon us like this,” he stated.

This has affected many of my peers severally! But this one zii!..Your domestic issues are no excuse to snake payment. We delivered a service & should be paid. Anyway, I was forced to swallow that pill. I just had to say it initoke. Peace.” He added.
