Two days after her big win at Wimbledon, Kenya’s tennis star Angella Okutoyi is back in the country. Okutoyi landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Monday together with Wanjiru Karani, Secretary General of Tennis Kenya.

Angella made history last Saturday as the first Kenyan to win a Wimbledon title. The 18-year-old and her Dutch partner, Rose Marie Nijkamp, won the girls’ doubles crown at the Junior Championship in London. The pair beat Canadians Kayla Cross and Victoria Mboko 3-6, 6-4, and 11-9 in the Grand Slamfinals held at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

I have no words to be honest but just to give my gratitude to my partner of course,@itftennis , #GSPDP , @allan_saha , my coaches, and my coach back home @wanjiimbugua, @manoahesipisu , @tenniskenya , @officialteamkenya, family and truly to all of you back home and to those who have been supporting me through thick and thin. Thank you! This will forever be the trophy l treasure and our names @rosemarienijkamp will forever be remembered,” Okutoyi posted on her Social media.
