CIRU MURIUKI OPENS UP ON HOW SHE MET CHARLES OUDA IN EMOTIONAL TRIBUTE

By  |

Ciru Muriuki, the fiancée of the late actor Charles ‘Charli’ Ouda, has reminisced about their cherished moments together, revisiting their love story and acknowledging the profound influence Charli had on her life.

While addressing the mourners during Ouda’s memorialCiru recalled the day she first met Charles, The first time I saw Charlie on stage was several years ago when he was still at St Marys. I had just finished high school and I thought he was so fine with that smile of his. If anyone had told me that more than 20 years later he would ask me to marry him, I would have laughed out of the room. This love story took me by surprise.”

Their love blossomed when Charlie returned from New York, and they became friends. At the time, Ciru was not actively looking love. “When Charlie and I reconnected when he came from New York I wasn’t looking. I had just lost my father the year before and was trying to navigate that loss. He and I started a friendship that later had some benefits. But after a while it became clear that there was something between us that was completely undeniable, there was this cosmic pull between us.” she explained.

The media personality also disclosed their plans for how they would have celebrated Valentine’s Day, “This is ain’t how I envisioned Valentine’s day, definitely we weren’t going to go all grand, we are not that couple. We probably would be at his home or mine and he would make some of his elite sandwiches. Anyone who has ever tasted his sandwiches can attest to this.  Then he would make me an incredibly strong cocktail to marinate me and I would probably force him to watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which he would grumble about but become weirdly invested in by the end,” Ciru stated.

She spoke about his deep appreciation for the arts, “I am standing here honouring this man, but it still does not feel real. Charlie was a true artist and he appreciated every form of art. He was not a snob and he looked at us with childlike wonder, an opportunity to learn. Thanks to him I gained a deeper appreciation of the arts. Watching every film became an educational point for me as he would point out all the storylines. He was a visionary and the way he saw the world was beautiful to watch and he never wanted to gatekeep his knowledge.” she said.

Ciru reminisced about the unforgettable evening when Charli proposed to her, “I am almost 42 years old and I have never been loved like that before. Charlie saw me. The night he asked me to marry him, we were at his house and I was wearing torn leggings and his t-shirt and he got down on one knee and I cried and to this day, those are the most beautiful nights of my life.” Ciru said.

She thanked him for his kindness and being a true gentleman. “My love, I speak to you, thank you for showing me what true love is, thank you for being the perfect example of a gentleman and a real man, thank you for being the kindest man I have ever known. Thank you for looking after me. It is the privilege of my life to have loved and been loved by you. Charlie, I will miss you until I join you,” Ciru concluded her tribute.
