Mungatana and Chidzuga’s Daughter Buried in Tana River

Amal Mghoi Mungatana, the youngest child of Tana River Senator Dr. Danson Mungatana and his wife Mwanaisha Chidzuga, was laid to rest on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Ngao Village in Tana River County.

The burial service drew family, relatives, friends, and leaders from across the country who gathered to pay their final respects to the young girl. Amal passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital in Muthaiga, Nairobi.

Following the burial, the family of Senator Mungatana and his wife their sincere gratitude to all who stood with them during the mourning period and the funeral service.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our families, relatives, and friends of Tana River, Kwale County, and all Kenyans in general for their prayers, comfort, and presence that gave us strength,” the family said in a statement.

The family also thanked the leaders, friends, and citizens who came together to support them during what they described as a difficult time of mourning.

“We thank God for the life of Amal, and we take this opportunity to express our special gratitude,” the statement read. “We pray to God to bless and fill you where He has placed you. Thank you.“
