Gloria Orwoba Opens Up About Two Failed Marriages 

Politician Gloria Orwoba has opened up about her two previous marriages, offering a rare and personal glimpse into her past relationships during an interview with Kameme FM.

Orwoba discribed her first marriage as a relationship worthy of its own Netflix series. “I married that man and he loved me. That relationship should have five seasons on Netflix,” Orwoba revealed.

She recounted meeting her first husband while working at a call centre in the EPZ Zone, answering texts from U.S. clients. Their connection began unexpectedly when she caught his interest while stuck in traffic. Despite their different cultural and religious backgrounds, he was not a Christian. They married at the Attorney General’s office (AG) and held a celebration.

Orwoba noted that their union defied traditional norms, as in his culture, the dowry is paid by the woman. When she introduced him to her father, he was taken aback by the arrangement. She was just 22 years old at the time. “He was a business person, so he taught me a lot,” she said. The marriage produced her firstborn child, a son.

In 2009, she, an architecture graduate, secured a job in the Netherlands and relocated. The long-distance separation led to their break up, an experience she says wounded her. “I never recovered, and he never did,” she admitted.

After moving on professionally, working between the Netherlands and South Africa, Orwoba found love again. While club-hopping in Nairobi with her friend Ciru from the U.S., she met a Somali man at a prominent club. They married.

“He was in the army,” she said. The couple stayed together for a considerable time before he secured a job in Sweden, prompting their relocation. The marriage eventually ended, and Orwoba made the decision to return to Kenya and join politics.

Despite the heartbreak, Orwoba spoke of her former partners with grace, stating, “The people I have been with are good people and breaking up has just been circumstances.”
