The actress took to social media posting a photo of herself holding the prestigious medal with an emotional caption. “Two years later, I finally got my hands on my OGW medal 🎖️, she’s so beautiful 🥰🥰🥰,” Wairimu wrote. “While my daughter already boasts quite a collection of medals, and now after three decades on earth I have my first one! If I achieved any during my school days, they have long slipped my mind, making this recognition incredibly special to me 🤍🎖️🤍.”

Wairimu was among several prominent Kenyan entertainers honoured by President William Ruto during the 2024 Jamhuri Day celebrations. Fellow actress Sarah Hassan, alongside popular musician Prince Indah, were also conferred with the prestigious OGW award in recognition of their outstanding contributions to Kenya’s arts and entertainment industry.
