Gospel Musician Mercy Masika Ordained as Reverend

Renowned gospel musician Mercy Masika has been ordained as a Reverend.

The celebrated artiste, known for her powerful vocals, officially received her ordination alongside her husband, David Muguro, in a ceremony attended by family, fellow ministers, and members of the faith community.

In an emotional address following the ordination, Masika opened up about the years of mixed feelings she faced before embracing her calling, having grown up watching the demands of ministry firsthand. “Growing up as a Bishop’s kid, I witnessed a life of sacrifice up close and for years, I wrestled with whether I carried that same weight,” she shared. “I doubted my ability, feared the cost.“

She described a long season of hesitation, where she questioned whether she was equipped for the responsibilities of pastoral leadership. However, she revealed that a moment of surrender changed everything. “Today, I step forward because He called, and I finally surrendered. I am deeply humbled to be ordained as a Reverend,” she declared.

Masika attributed the ordination entirely to divine intervention, making it clear that no human achievement could account for what she described as an unmistakable calling. “This is the doing of the Lord,” she proclaimed. “We have sought many academic qualifications and efforts, and the Lord has been faithful, but this fire in the bones is not made up, it’s not assumable, and it must be given out, it is love for the One who died and rose for us.“

She extended an open invitation to the public, saying: “Join us in celebrating the doing of the Lord. Welcome Rev. Mercy and Rev. David.” She stated that while she will continue to create music, her new role as Reverend will take precedence as she steps fully into pastoral ministry alongside her husband. “I have learned that God does not call the qualified; He qualifies the called,” she added. “I am stepping into this not because I am ready, but because He is faithful.“
