Ciku Muiruri Speaks Out After Attack Over Family Farm Land Dispute
Former radio personality Ciku Muiruri has recounted an assault at her family’s property in Thika, Kiambu County, claiming she was struck with a crowbar during a confrontation linked to a long-running land dispute.
In a video and livestream shared on Wednesday, Muiruri appeared with a visibly swollen eye and said she had been struck on the head and face. She stated that she has filed a P3 form and identified her alleged attacker to police, but that no arrest had been made.
According to Muiruri, the incident occurred on a Monday when she was alone in the house on the family farm, where her younger brother lives with his children. She alleged that a large group of men forced their way into the property, broke down the door, and demanded her belongings. She said she handed over her laptop, phone, and cash .
Muiruri further alleged that some of the men attempted to remove her clothes, leaving her fearful that she would be sexually assaulted. She described retreating to her room and praying repeatedly before a police officer escorted her back inside to look for her car keys. It was at that point, she claims, that one of the men struck her with a crowbar.
The radio presenter linked the confrontation to a dispute over the farm, where she says her father and grandmother are buried and where she has lived for much of her life. She alleged that a neighbour, had previously attempted to claim tenancy rights over the property through agreements she described as questionable.
She also alleged that a company called Floriculture had obtained eviction orders from the Business Premises Rent Tribunal, but that the tribunal chairman later issued a stay. According to Muiruri, the stay order was served on the Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) in Thika on the day of the alleged attack, yet the individuals she accused remained on the property.
Muiruri accused the OCPD and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCIO) in Thika of failing to act on court orders, stating that the man she identified as her attacker was still moving freely on the property. She confirmed filing a P3 form and said she has initiated legal proceedings against her attacker.
