Jalang’o Defends Getting Into Boot of SUV During Ruto’s Nyanza Tour

Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor popular known as Jalang’o has opened up after a video of him climbing into the rear of a presidential security vehicle during President Ruto’s Nyanza tour set social media ablaze.

The footage, which circulated widely online, showed Jalang’o entering through the back of the vehicle while Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi was seen walking toward the passenger door a contrast that many observers interpreted as a reflection of their different standing within the presidential convoy.

Speaking during an interview with Ghetto Radio’s Maji Maji on Tuesday, September 22, the lawmaker dismissed suggestions that he had literally crawled into a cargo boot, explaining that the vehicle in question known as Echo Charlie belongs to the commander of the presidential security detail and sits directly ahead of the President’s car.

According to Jalang’o, the convoy’s other vehicles had already pulled away by the time he reached Echo Charlie. “At that point our vehicles had left. People usually leave rallies very quickly, and I opened the back door and entered,” he said, adding that being stranded was not an option. “Even if I get into the boot, as long as I arrive.”

He further clarified that the boot section of the vehicle is fitted with seats rather than being an empty storage area, dismissing claims that he had squeezed into a boot.

The MP also highlighted the strict protocols governing access to presidential security vehicles,   “You cannot enter the vehicle anyhow. When you see Sudi turning into security and Farouk a photographer, it’s no joke.”
