VICTORIA KIMANI REALLY HURT ME, TIWA SAVAGE OPENS UP ABOUT ATTEMPTED SUICIDE AND BLEACHING

By  |

Nigerian superstar Tiwa Savage had a heart to heart conversation with BBNaija host, Ebuka Obi Uchendu, Tiwa revealed she was hurt by Kenyan musician Victoria Kimani who dissed her in April last year during the#f**kyouchallenge calling her a p*ssy selling grandma.

She said, “I was really hurt during the Victoria Kimani situation; I know a lot of people came out and fought for me. But I have met her twice in my entire career, that came out of nowhere, I was not prepared to even defend myself. I always used to go on her page and admire her fashion, the way she does her make-up. This is someone I loved her fashion and vocals, I was just like what happened, till today I still don’t understand. I don’t get it.

It was bad, she literally called my name on a song and insinuated that I was seeing an old man who bough me my car. It was painful from someone that I really really liked. If I ever see her, I would love to have that conversation.”

The musician also talked about being depressed and bullied in high school that she attempted to commit suicide, “I was trying to bleach because I hated my dark skin and my mother caught me and she threw everything out. I was 14, 15 or 16 years, I was really insecure.

I was bullied so bad that I literally tried to kill myself two times, I was really depressed. They would flash my head down the toilet during lunch break. I had to have police escort sometimes because after school they would rush me on the bus. The bullying went on for a good four years.”

After seven years with Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records, Tiwa decided to go solo, “I just wanted to step out on my own and take that risk. It was a very difficult time, I cried, that December I went off social media for months. I was really depressed; I was scared but I also knew I didn’t wanna regret not doing it. It was the right move and they gave me their blessing and I still talk to them all the time; I still go to play my music and show them my videos.”

She also revealed she has a cordial relationship with her ex-husband Teebillz, “We are cordial; besides our son, we have no relationship. I feel like he is in a happy place, living in California, he’s got two beautiful kids and he still speaks to Jamil all the time, I feel good that he is in a happy place.”
