GRAMMY 2021: BURNA BOY AND WIZKID WIN AWARDS

By  |

The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards was held Sunday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Hosted by Trevor Noah, the award show was held during the pandemic and there no audience this year.

Nigerian singer Burna Boy won the Best Global Music Album for Twice as Tall. He was nominated alongside Antibalas, Bebel Gilberto, Anoushka Shankar and Tinariwen.

Other African winner was Wizkid, he won alongside Beyoncé and Blue Ivy for Best Music Video for Brown Skin Girl. Burna Boy was nominated in the same category in 2019 but lost out to Angelique Kidjo.

However, Angelique dedicated her win to him, saying, “Burna Boy is among those young artists that come from Africa that is changing the way our continent is perceived and the way that African music is the bedrock of all music.”
