Celebrities tend to use April 1 as an opportunity to make fun of their own gossip headlines and this year was not different for Kenyan celebrities. They took to social media and shared their carefully elaborated pranks.

DJ Pierra Makena’s engagement

DJ Pierra surprised her fans with a huge fake engagement ring and said, “It’s a yes! #Tolove. About last night. Birthday months starts well!” most of her fans were fooled and ended up congratulating her on her comment section. While a small section realized it was an April fools joke.

Jua Cali quits music after 20 years

Veteran musician Jua Cali said he was quitting music after 20 years, “Very sad day today, I have decided to retire from music. Too much pressure from this covid thing. On the new and better things. Sadly, I am hanging the mic today. 20 years is enough. On to new and better things. #sadday.”

Dr Ofweneke’s new job at Classic 105

Comedian Dr Ofweneke pranked his fans that he got a new job at Radio Africa’s Classic 105 and went on to tag other presenters in the company,  The eagle: This year we are just winning and nothing else! Homeboyz Radio presenter G Money went as far as creating an online poster with Sauti Sol and Konshens hinting he will be dropping new music Girls Everywhere. Though he has never released any song, fans still congratulated him.
