I SPENT SH124 MILLION ON MY LATE MOTHER AND BROTHER’S CANCER TREATMENT SAYS DENNIS OLIECH

By  |

Kenyan football star Dennis Oliech has opened up about his family and mistakes he made in his career. Speaking at an interview, Oliech said he had to sell his assets to foot his late mother and brother’s cancer treatments to a tune of Sh124 million

My mother’s treatment cost me Sh40 million and my brother Kevin was around Sh84 million. I had to sell property, there was no way you can have assets and your brother is in the hospital.” His mum passed away in July 2018 of Stomach Cancer and his brother in August 2020 after a long battle with lung cancer.

His advice to young players is to invest the little money they make, “Invest with the little money you have. If you have a wife then open for her something, our players are waiting to make millions of money which will not happen.

If you want to make millions you will have to go to Europe. In Kenya it won’t happen, you will just be making Sh80,000 or Sh100,000. You can buy even a motorcycle which will bring you Sh300 per day but they are waiting to buy a car which will never come.”

His biggest mistake he says, “My career took a hit when I left Ajax and went to Dubai. That was when I was out of the limelight, I wish I had remained, I would have played second or third division, that’s where I blandered.

When you leave Europe for Asia you are dead. Now Olunga is in the Middle East, he won’t last for long. Europe is the best, when you get there don’t leave. Go to Asia when you are 32. In your 20s don’t try, your career will end like mine.”
