By  |

Former Kenya 7s coach Benjamin Ayimba took his breath on Friday evening, May 21 after a battle with cerebral malaria. Following his death, the rugby star was mourned by people from all walks of life who at one point or the other interacted, or knew him.

Surrounding the news of Ayimba’s death was a story dated back in 2019, when he was dragged to court by his estranged wife Frabrica Awuor who demanded upkeep for their two children. Awuor is said to be Ayimba’s third wife of 10 years filed a civil case at the Children’s Court, further submitting an affidavit indicating that the deceased had neglected his biological kids

As reported by local dailies, the mother of two demanded Sh150,000 from the rugby star, Sh50,000 being one-month rent and Sh100,000 being two-month deposit. She also demanded Sh100,000 as monthly upkeep for their two children and a further Sh160,000 for the children’s school fees.

Awuor also wanted Ayimba to spend 50 percent of the holidays and weekends with the minors as part of his parental responsibilities. Ayimba met his wife Awuor in 2009 through Godwin Aswani, who is the cousin to second wife Caroline.

He married her and they consummated the relationship, sharing the same house with Ayimba’s second wife Caroline Waswa, they cordially lived together in South C for three years and Awuor even took up the responsibility of raising Caroline’s children.

However, things took a drastic change in 2012 when Ayimba married his fourth wife, Gloria Moraa, and brought her to the same house in South C. Things did not go well, after the arrival of Moraa, the tension got so high forcing Ayimba to relocate her to Donholm and later to Athi River.

It is in Athi River where Ayimba was accused of neglecting his family, leading to their woes and eventually court battles.  According to Awuor, Ayimba asked her to quit employment in 2016 after she delivered her second child so as to look after the minors. Little is known about his first wife though she lives in Karen.
