‘I COULDN’T PAY MY RENT AND I HAD TO DEPEND ON MY BOYFRIEND’ MA’EMPRESS ACTRESS MINNE KARIUKI OPENS UP

Popular Kenyan actress Minne Kariuki has shared how cancellation of Citizen TV’s top series Tabasamu impacted her financially. She spoke to Buzz Central and said the change was abrupt and she could not afford to pay her rent.

It was so hard, I started acting when I was so young at 18 years and the show was cancelled when I was 22 years. I was just getting my wings and understanding myself and coming to terms with what I want for this life. I had been sustaining my life through Tabasamu, paying my university fees, rent and supporting my mum, thing were not good at home. Everyone was depending on me and I was fired and there was no plan B.

I just went home and I cried the whole night, I have never been someone who takes their anger and stress through alcohol. For me it’s just crying and I don’t like wallowing on someone’s shoulder so it was hard. I couldn’t pay my rent for a couple of minute so I had to depend on my boyfriend which I hate.” Minne later started her construction business.
